Survival Tips During Hardships



Everyone goes through hardships, it is part of life. Life is a beautiful thing, filled with many highs and lows. We never fully anticipate the lows but when they do happen it just makes us want to stop everything, retreat in a cave, and never come back out.

Here are some tips that can potentially help you shift from under those dark clouds.

1. Reflect on the good times 

Appreciate the joys you've experienced and remember you can have joyful times again. Remember that after every storm comes a rainbow. Your current state is temporary. Believe that good times are making their way back around.


2. Set up a recovery plan

Now that you are here and things are not going the way you've intended them to, what are you going to do? Set up a recovery plan that will initiate actions that will get you out of the rut you are in. Find people and resources around you that can provide insight. Do research, get support, ask around, write down clear goals you wish to accomplish to get you further away from these dark clouds. If it is financial setbacks you are experiencing, create a financial planning chart, seek financial council, speak to people who are financially secure for advice, etc.


3. Give gratitude for what is going right

Though it may seem as though everything is crashing down and nothing is going right, try to REALLY look closer and see what is going well and give gratitude. We tend to focus on the bad and not the good. It's just in our human nature to magnify the bad and overlook the goodness. Look at the positives,  be happy you have whatever you have.  Do your best and don't stress.


4. Shift your focus

Stop focusing on the setbacks. Start shifting your attitude and focus on what you DO want. Never pray for what you don't want in your life. What you focus on most is what we tend to attract; "seek and you shall find". So if you want to get out of your rut, stop focusing on it and think and dwell on success. Be positive, as hard as it may be. Positive energy feeds off of positive energy. Surround yourself with positive, loving people. Put yourself in different settings that will help uplift you and bring you some type of joy. Take care of yourself as best as you can. Develop a set of positive affirmations for yourself on a daily basis. Don't let your hardships make you cold and greedy. Give what you can, whether it be time, advice, or support. That giving will bring more abundance into your life.


5. Know it will all work out 

The light at the end of the tunnel is coming. This is temporary. You are an outstanding being and you will survive this. When you do survive this, you will have a better appreciation for yourself and for life. Never forget what you've experienced, use it as your ammunition for success.


6. Pray/Meditate 

As cheesy as that may sound, try to reach out to your higher self, God, Creator of the Universe, The Creator for clarity and wisdom. There is some driving force, some grand energy that when summoned provides insight and direction. Ask the Creator for specific guidance. God wants us to be happy, suffering is not meant to be a habitual thing. There is a misconception that being spiritual means being poor and afflicted, not true. Get back on the horse, ask God for wisdom and get out of that cave!!


Remember, the good days are coming. Embrace them when they arrive. Love hard, stay strong, and be optimistic.
